La Crosse Meth Dealer Gets 78 Months

In a disturbing case of repeat offending, 35-year-old Tang Vue of La Crosse, Wisconsin has been sentenced to 78 months in federal prison for his role in distributing large quantities of methamphetamine, as well as violating the terms of his supervised release.

According to prosecutors, Vue pleaded guilty to the methamphetamine trafficking charge on May 18, 2021, after a police informant purchased the illicit substance from him on two separate occasions in January and February 2021.

A search of Vue’s backpack at the time of his arrest uncovered a substantial amount of cash, $12,720, as well as a drug ledger that revealed he was owed thousands of dollars by some of his customers. A search of his home also turned up thousands of empty gem bags, commonly used to package methamphetamine.

U.S. District Judge William M. Conley sentenced Vue to 60 months in prison for the methamphetamine trafficking charge, with an additional 18 consecutive months for violating the terms of his supervised release.

In handing down the sentence, Judge Conley emphasized that Vue’s conduct was particularly egregious, given his prior conviction for a similar offense in 2012. The judge noted that Vue’s actions demonstrated a clear disregard for the law and the well-being of his community.

The investigation into Vue’s activities was conducted by the La Crosse Police Department, with Assistant U.S. Attorney David J. Reinhard handling the prosecution of the case.

Vue’s sentencing serves as a stark reminder of the devastating consequences of methamphetamine trafficking and the importance of holding repeat offenders accountable for their actions.
