Laheem Jones, Courthouse Shooting, Connecticut 2020

Bridgeport’s Laheem Jones, also known as ‘Heemie’, has pleaded guilty before U.S. District Judge Janet Bond Arterton in New Haven to racketeering and attempted murder charges. The charges stem from his participation in gang-related shootings, including a brazen attack outside the Bridgeport courthouse in January 2020.

According to court documents, Jones was a member of the ‘Greene Homes Boyz’ (GHB/Hotz), a notorious Bridgeport-based gang involved in drug trafficking and violence. The gang distributed heroin, crack cocaine, marijuana, and Percocet pills, and targeted rivals with acts of intimidation.

In January 2020, Jones and associates attempted to kill members of the East End gang outside the courthouse. During the shooting, four victims were injured, including one who was left paralyzed. Following the incident, Jones and others tried to destroy a vehicle used in the shooting by setting it on fire.

Jones also appeared in YouTube videos promoting the gang and its activities. He pleaded guilty to conspiracy to engage in a pattern of racketeering activity, attempted murder, and aiding and abetting, facing a maximum sentence of 30 years.

The investigation was conducted by the ATF, FBI, DEA, U.S. Marshals Service, and Bridgeport Police Department. Jones is the last of eight defendants charged in this conspiracy to plead guilty. Sentencing is scheduled for February 23, 2022.

Jones has been detained since August 6, 2020.
