Lakeland Man Sentenced for Cocaine Trafficking

ORLANDO, FL – A Lakeland man has been sentenced to 10 years in federal prison for his role in a cocaine trafficking operation in Central Florida.

Kesner Joly, 53, pleaded guilty to conspiracy to distribute cocaine on September 3, 2014, and was sentenced yesterday by U.S. District Judge Roy B. Dalton, Jr.

According to court documents, Joly was a kilogram-level cocaine distributor in the Central Florida area, acquiring kilograms of cocaine from South Florida and delivering them to individuals in the Middle District of Florida on multiple occasions in 2013.

During the conspiracy, Joly distributed at least five kilograms of cocaine, and law enforcement seized a total of four kilograms delivered by Joly, as well as $68,000 from prior cocaine transactions.

The case was investigated by the Drug Enforcement Administration, the Polk County Sheriff’s Office, and the Orange County Sheriff’s Office, and was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Andrew C. Searle.

Joly’s sentence of 10 years in federal prison is a significant blow to the local cocaine trafficking operation, and underscores the determination of law enforcement to take down those involved in this destructive trade.
