Lamont Boswell Pleads Guilty to Gun Law Violation

BOSTON – Rockland’s Lamont Boswell, 39, has admitted guilt in the grim realm of firearms violations. The admitted felon, already under federal supervision for a previous gun charge, now faces fresh charges after law enforcement discovered a loaded Smith and Wesson semi-automatic handgun in his car on April 2, 2025.

Boswell’s arrest came during a routine wellness check where he was found passed out in the driver’s seat. The loaded firearm contained 13 rounds of ammunition, one already in the chamber. This isn’t Boswell’s first brush with firearms law; his prior conviction for being a felon in possession of a firearm and ammunition landed him 57 months behind bars and three years of supervised release.

On April 3, 2025, Boswell violated his federal supervised release conditions, leading to his current custody. Sentencing is scheduled for December 3, 2025, with the potential for up to 15 years in prison hanging over him, along with a fine that could reach $250,000.

The case was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Fred M. Wyshak III of the Organized Crime and Gang Unit, with support from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms & Explosives and local law enforcement agencies. This prosecution is part of Operation Take Back America, a national initiative targeting illegal immigration, cartels, transnational crime, and violent criminals.

United States Attorney Leah B. Foley and Bryan DiGirolamo, Acting Special Agent in Charge of the ATF Boston Field Division, emphasized the commitment to public safety in announcements regarding this case. Boswell’s fate underscores the strict penalties for repeat firearms violations in Massachusetts.

The Plymouth County District Attorney’s Office and Scituate Police Department collaborated to ensure justice was served. The case serves as a stark reminder of the consequences faced by those who flout the law with illegal firearms.
