HONOLULU – In a gritty conclusion to the Miske Enterprise’s reign of terror, Lance L. Bermudez, 34, faced Judge Derrick K. Watson for his role in a string of heinous crimes including racketeering conspiracy, robbery, and drug trafficking.
Bermudez, known as ‘The Hammah,’ was handed a severe sentence of 360 months in federal prison followed by five years of supervised release. His actions were part of a wider scheme involving murder-for-hire plots, armed robberies, and drug sales that terrorized Honolulu.
The defendant confessed to participating in a murder contract on behalf of codefendant Michael J. Miske, who issued the contract for $60,000. Bermudez also admitted to shooting victims from his vehicle in several attempted murders, as well as torching a van later linked to the murder of 21-year-old Johnathan Fraser.
Acting U.S. Attorney Ken Sorenson hailed the sentence as a testament to a decade-long collaborative effort with law enforcement partners like the FBI, IRS, and Homeland Security Investigations. He stated that while the Miske Enterprise is dismantled, the pursuit of violent criminal enterprises in Hawaii continues.
FBI Honolulu Special Agent in Charge David Porter emphasized Bermudez’s role in the enterprise, noting his active participation in the pattern of violence. The sentencing marks a significant victory for law enforcement and brings closure to the victims and families affected by the Miske Enterprise’s activities.
