A 33-year-old Las Cruces, N.M., man has been sentenced to 24 months in prison for his role in a heroin trafficking conspiracy, authorities announced Friday.
Jared Alan Slyh was arrested on June 16, 2015, after providing 353.4 grams of heroin to an undercover law enforcement officer on June 3, 2015, according to court documents.
Under the terms of his plea agreement, Slyh will be sentenced to 24 months in prison followed by a term of supervised release to be determined by the court.
Slyh pled guilty to a felony information charging him with possession of heroin with intent to distribute during Friday’s proceedings in federal court in Las Cruces.
The case was investigated by the Las Cruces office of the DEA and is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Amanda Gould of the U.S. Attorney’s Las Cruces Branch Office.
The case is being prosecuted pursuant to the New Mexico Heroin and Opioid Prevention and Education (HOPE) Initiative, a collaboration between the U.S. Attorney’s Office and the University of New Mexico Health Sciences Center.
