Lawrence Allen Keplinger, Methamphetamine Distribution, West Virginia 2019

ELKINS, WEST VIRGINIA – A man from Grant County has admitted to a serious crime, posing a threat to the community.

Lawrence Allen Keplinger, a 39-year-old resident of Lahmansville, West Virginia, has pleaded guilty to a methamphetamine distribution charge, U.S. Attorney Bill Powell announced.

According to the charges, Keplinger was found to be in possession of more than 50 grams of ‘crystal meth’ or ‘ice’ in March 2019 in Grant County.

The exact nature of the crime is described as ‘Possession with Intent to Distribute Methamphetamine,’ a serious offense that carries severe consequences.

Keplinger faces a significant sentence of at least 10 years and up to life incarceration, along with a fine of up to $10,000,000. The actual sentence imposed will be based on the seriousness of the offenses and the prior criminal history, if any, of the defendant.

The investigation into Keplinger’s activities was conducted by the Potomac Highlands Drug & Violent Crimes Task Force, a HIDTA-funded initiative, and the West Virginia State Police.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Stephen D. Warner is prosecuting the case on behalf of the government.

U.S. Magistrate Judge Michael Aloi presided over the proceedings.
