HARRISBURG – In a stunning turn of events, Angel Lopez-Guzman, 37, from Lebanon, PA, has been hit with federal charges for drug trafficking and illegal firearm possession. The United States Attorney’s Office for the Middle District of Pennsylvania revealed that Lopez-Guzman was indicted by a federal grand jury on Tuesday.
According to United States Attorney Gerard M. Karam, the indictment asserts that Lopez-Guzman had over 500 grams of cocaine with intent to distribute and unlawfully possessed a firearm as a convicted felon. The alleged offense took place in Lebanon County on January 5, 2024.
This case has been meticulously investigated by the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) and the Lebanon County Drug Task Force. Assistant United States Attorney Michael Scalera is handling the prosecution.
The charges against Lopez-Guzman are a part of Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN), an initiative that assembles all levels of law enforcement to combat violent crime and gun violence, enhancing community safety.
Under federal law, if convicted, Lopez-Guzman faces a maximum penalty of life imprisonment, supervised release following his sentence, and a significant fine. Sentencing will be determined by the Judge after considering applicable federal sentencing statutes and guidelines.
It is important to note that indictments are merely allegations, and all individuals charged are presumed innocent until proven guilty in court.
