Christian Cannon Sentenced to 15 Years for Child Porn
A Lebanon man has been sentenced to 15 years in federal prison without parole for receiving and distributing child pornography over the internet.
Christian Cannon, 44, of Lebanon, was sentenced by U.S. District Judge Stephen R. Bough for his role in the heinous crime. Cannon had six prior state convictions in Washington for possessing child pornography, all from the same criminal case, which led to his sentencing as a prior sex offender.
The investigation into Cannon’s activities began on April 18, 2014, when a law enforcement officer identified his computer as sharing images of child pornography over the internet. Officers executed a search warrant at Cannon’s residence and seized his computer. A forensic examiner later located three videos and two images of child pornography on the computer.
Cannon pleaded guilty to receiving and distributing child pornography on July 28, 2016. The case was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorneys Casey Clark and Patrick Carney, and was investigated by the Southwest Missouri Cyber Crime Task Force and the Missouri State Highway Patrol.
This case was brought as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative launched in May 2006 to combat the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse. The initiative marshals federal, state, and local resources to locate, apprehend, and prosecute individuals who sexually exploit children, and to identify and rescue victims.
Project Safe Childhood aims to create a safer environment for our children by educating the public about internet safety and the dangers of child pornography.
