Keith Phillips, Bank Robbery, ME 2023

PORTLAND, MAINE – United States Attorney Halsey B. Frank revealed that Keith Phillips, 58, of Lewiston, Maine, received a 70-month sentence for bank robbery in U.S. District Court. Senior Judge D. Brock Hornby imposed the term, followed by three years of supervised release. Additionally, the court mandated Phillips to pay restitution to the victimized Androscoggin Bank. On December 26, 2018, Phillips entered a guilty plea.

Phillips’ offense transpired on June 6, 2018, when he entered the Androscoggin Bank in Lewiston and handed a teller a note demanding $2,000 with threats of a gun. The criminal fled with $2,000.

The investigation was spearheaded by the Lewiston Police Department, supported by the FBI, Southern Maine Gang Task Force, Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, Portland, South Portland, and Lewiston Police Departments, and the Central Maine Violent Crime Task Force.

Phillips’ conviction marks a significant victory for law enforcement agencies in their efforts to combat financial crimes within the state. As the justice system delivers its verdict, it serves as a stark reminder of the consequences faced by those who commit bank robberies.

Halsey B. Frank emphasized the importance of collaboration between federal and local agencies in addressing crime, stating, ‘This sentence reflects our commitment to protecting Maine citizens from such violent acts.’
