Lincoln Man Amikhet En Maati Sentenced to 60 Years for Child Pornography
A federal judge in Lincoln, Nebraska, has delivered a harsh sentence to a man who thought he could hide in plain sight: 60 years in prison for producing and possessing child pornography. Amikhet En Maati, 53, of Lincoln, Nebraska, was sentenced on May 20, 2024, in federal court for his crimes.
According to the Department of Justice, USAO, Maati was found guilty on two counts of producing child pornography, two counts of producing child pornography while on the sex offender registry, and one count of possession of child pornography. Senior United States District Judge John M. Gerrard handed down the sentence, which includes a lifetime of supervised release following Maati’s release from prison. He is also ordered to pay $6,000 to a federal fund established to assist victims of child exploitation crimes.
The investigation began on September 9, 2022, when the Lincoln Police Department received a report about the sexual abuse of a minor female. During the search of Maati’s residence, a cellphone belonging to him was seized, revealing a trove of child exploitation videos. Further review of his cloud-storage account revealed additional videos of the victims.
Maati was previously convicted in 1997 and 1999 for sex-related crimes in Nebraska. His latest conviction was brought as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative to combat child sexual exploitation and abuse. The case was investigated by the Lincoln Police Department.
