Lincoln Man Sentenced for Methamphetamine Conspiracy
A 33-year-old man from Lincoln has been sentenced to 21 years and 10 months in prison for his role in a conspiracy to distribute and possess with the intent to distribute 500 grams or more of methamphetamine in the Lincoln area between June of 2013 and August of 2015.
United States Attorney Deborah R. Gilg announced that on February 26, 2016, Marlon Romere Rupert, Jr. was sentenced for his involvement in the conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine in the Lincoln area.
According to the sentencing, Rupert was responsible for the distribution of at least 500 grams (approximately 18 ounces) of methamphetamine during the time period of the conspiracy.
Following the prison term, Rupert will serve five years on supervised release.
The case was investigated by the Lincoln/Lancaster County Drug Task Force.
A conviction for conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine carries a maximum penalty of up to life in prison and a fine of up to $10 million. However, the actual sentence in this case was significantly less due to the cooperation of Rupert with law enforcement.
The Lincoln/Lancaster County Drug Task Force played a crucial role in bringing Rupert to justice, and their efforts are a testament to the importance of coordination between law enforcement agencies in combating the scourge of methamphetamine in our communities.
