Lisa Landman, 48, Admits Stealing Over $250K from Employer in Redding, Connecticut

A 48-year-old Redding woman has pleaded guilty to a high-profile embezzlement scheme, admitting to stealing over $250,000 from her former employer in Connecticut.

Lisa Landman, the bookkeeper for a Connecticut company, defrauded her employer by authorizing and initiating at least 33 wire transfers from the company’s business bank account into her own personal credit card account between November 2010 and November 2013.

According to court documents and statements made in court, Landman used the stolen funds for personal purchases including jewelry, clothing, vacations, spa treatments, fitness equipment and entertainment tickets.

The case was investigated by the U.S. Secret Service, the Stamford Police Department, and the Connecticut Financial Crimes Task Force, and is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Nancy V. Gifford.

Landman waived her right to indictment and pleaded guilty before U.S. District Judge Victor A. Bolden in Bridgeport. When she is sentenced, she faces a maximum term of imprisonment of 20 years and a fine of up to $250,000.

The sentencing date has not been scheduled. This case is a stark reminder of the devastating consequences of financial crimes and the importance of vigilance in detecting and preventing such schemes.
