Richard Greer, Sex Trafficking and Child Pornography, New York 2024

Buffalo, N.Y. – Richard Greer, 58, of Lockport, NY, was handed a 78-month prison sentence and 25 years of supervised release after being convicted of possessing child pornography. The sentencing, imposed by U.S. District Judge Lawrence J. Vilardo, comes as a result of his involvement with a global sex trafficking network.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Douglas A. C. Penrose revealed that between April 2019 and August 14, 2023, Greer communicated via Skype with individuals in the Philippines, exchanging around 31,000 messages, 3,099 calls, and 213 media files related to child sex trafficking. He was caught paying traffickers for live-streamed depictions of child pornography.

In December 2023, federal agents searched Greer’s residence, seizing a laptop and thumb drive. The laptop contained over 4,400 images and 44 video files of child pornography, while the thumb drive held approximately 13,000 images and 900 videos, some depicting violence against children and exploitation of infants.

Greer’s conviction is the outcome of an intensive investigation led by Homeland Security Investigations, under Special Agent-in-Charge Erin Keegan. The sentence sends a strong message about the severity of child pornography and sex trafficking offenses.

The grim nature of Greer’s crimes highlights the ongoing fight against online predators and human traffickers, emphasizing the necessity for continuous vigilance and law enforcement efforts to protect the vulnerable.
