Logan M. Schwenk, Accessing with Intent to View Child Pornography, Nebraska 2024

An Omaha man has been sentenced for accessing child pornography.

A federal court in Omaha sentenced Logan M. Schwenk, age 23, for access with intent to view visual depictions of minors engaging in sexually explicit conduct.

Schwenk was ordered to serve 24 months in prison, with no parole in the federal system. After his release from prison, he will begin a 5-year term of supervised release.

Schwenk was also ordered to pay a $2,500 special assessment to the Child Pornography Victims Reserve Fund.

The investigation began on October 25, 2022, when a Federal Bureau of Investigation agent working covertly online visited an open internet page that hosted and advertised the sale of child pornography.

The agent made a covert purchase of the files, and the money was directed to a money mule located in the United States. After the purchase, the agent was sent a Mega link which contained terabytes of child pornographic material.

During the investigation of the money mule, the agent identified others who made similar purchases for child pornography, including Schwenk. Schwenk’s purchase history and communications with the money mule showed multiple financial transactions for similar links from October 2022 through February 2023.

In the transaction line for the payments, Schwenk indicated ‘mega’ or ‘cp.’

A search warrant was issued for Schwenk’s residence in Omaha on June 7, 2023. The warrant was executed, and numerous devices were seized, including his phone and laptop.

During a forensic review of Schwenk’s phone, the FBI found a Mega link to child pornography and at least one image of child pornography.
