Bradley S. Roenfeldt, 58, of Omaha, Nebraska, was sentenced to 180 months in federal prison for transporting child pornography, a conviction that caps a sordid digital trail of exploitation traced through encrypted messaging apps and forensic phone data. U.S. District Judge Brian C. Buescher handed down the sentence with no chance for parole—a federal reality that means Roenfeldt will serve every mandated day behind bars before entering a lifetime of supervised release.
FBI investigators linked Roenfeldt to a Kik Messenger group called ‘Super strokers,’ where under the username ‘curiousinomaha,’ he shared at least 25 graphic images of nude minors—both girls and boys—between March and April 2018. Digital footprints, including IP logs and subscriber data, led agents directly to his Omaha residence. A July 14, 2018, search warrant execution resulted in the seizure of his cellphone, which later revealed over 100 images and multiple videos depicting children in sexually explicit conduct.
Roenfeldt admitted during questioning to using Kik under the incriminating alias. Forensic analysis confirmed the presence of the app and the username on the seized device, sealing his connection to the illicit network. Authorities found no digital alibi—just a deliberate, hidden pattern of sharing abuse material across a platform favored by predators for its anonymity.
This isn’t Roenfeldt’s first brush with justice for sexual violence. On March 29, 1991, he was convicted of First Degree Sexual Assault in Madison County District Court, Nebraska, and served a 10- to 15-year prison sentence. His return to criminal behavior underscores a grim truth federal prosecutors emphasized: predators don’t retire with age.
“Those who offend against children do not age out of their crimes,” warned U.S. Attorney Joe Kelly, who oversaw the prosecution. “It is some comfort that after serving his 15-year sentence, he will be on a lifetime term of supervision and not allowed to have contact with children.” The court also ordered Roenfeldt to pay $12,000 in restitution and comply with lifetime sex offender registration.
The FBI Omaha field office, led by Special Agent in Charge Kristi Johnson, reiterated that child exploitation cases remain a top investigative priority. “We are vigilant in our role to ensure that children are protected,” Johnson stated after the sentencing. The case was prosecuted under Project Safe Childhood, the DOJ’s nationwide initiative launched in 2006 to dismantle online networks of child sexual abuse. The Omaha FBI’s Child Exploitation and Human Trafficking Task Force led the investigation, proving once again that digital breadcrumbs don’t disappear—they lead to prison.
