Omaha Man Sentenced to 135 Months for Possession of Child Pornography

Omaha, NE – In a disturbing case of child exploitation, 42-year-old Patrick D.J. Nicks was sentenced to 135 months in federal prison for possession of child pornography.

Nicks, a repeat offender, was previously convicted of Possession of Child Pornography in 2006 and sentenced to 36 months in prison. He was also ordered to serve a 2-year term of supervised release.

This time around, Nicks admitted to trading, sharing, and receiving images of child pornography with other Skype users. The investigation, led by the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office and the Federal Bureau of Investigation, uncovered evidence of child pornography on two devices seized from Nicks’s Omaha residence.

The evidence included at least 10 videos and more than 450 photos depicting child pornography. Nicks will be required to pay $23,000 in restitution to the victims of child pornography offenses.

Under the terms of his sentence, Nicks will serve 135 months in prison with no parole. Upon completing his term, he will begin a 15-year term of supervised release.

The case was brought as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative to combat the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse. The project aims to locate, apprehend, and prosecute individuals who exploit children via the Internet, as well as to identify and rescue victims.

The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office and the Federal Bureau of Investigation investigated the case.
