New York’s Long Island has seen another black mark on its record as Isis Navarro Reyes, also known as ‘Beraly Navarro,’ was arrested and charged with a litany of crimes including conspiracy to sell misbranded drugs and smuggling. The charges stem from Reyes’s alleged activities on TikTok, where she hawked prescription-only weight loss medications like Ozempic, Mesofrance, and Axcion.
According to the U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of New York, Damian Williams, Reyes not only marketed these dangerous drugs but also provided detailed instructions on their usage and dosage. Unbeknownst to many of her followers, Reyes is not a licensed medical professional—yet she brazenly dispensed prescription medication without a license. The illegal sale of these unapproved drugs has put countless individuals at risk of serious health consequences.
The FDA’s Office of Criminal Investigations, led by Special Agent in Charge Fernando P. McMillan, emphasized the gravity of selling misbranded drugs. ‘Selling injectable products like Ozempic without proper authorization puts consumers’ health at significant risk,’ McMillan said. ‘We will not tolerate individuals who threaten public safety with such activities.’
Reyes’s TikTok activity is laid out in the Complaint: she posted videos detailing her personal experiences with the drugs, including how to use them and their effectiveness. She even instructed viewers on how to order the drugs through encrypted messaging apps. The Complaint reveals a brazen operation that spanned from November 2022 to January 2024.
Following an undercover investigation, Reyes was arrested this morning and is scheduled to appear before U.S. Magistrate Judge Barbara Moses later today. Williams warned, ‘This case makes clear that extreme caution and physician consultation should always be taken when purchasing medications, especially on social media.’ The message is clear: the sale of unapproved drugs over social platforms has consequences.
