Lonny Joseph DiTirro, Child Pornography Production and Possession, Nevada 2015

Lonny Joseph DiTirro, 37, of Las Vegas, is headed to federal prison for 140 years after being convicted of sexually exploiting children by producing and possessing child pornography. The sentence, handed down today by U.S. District Judge Kent J. Dawson, marks one of the most severe penalties in Nevada’s recent history for crimes against minors.

DiTirro was found guilty by a jury on four counts of sexual exploitation of children for producing child pornography and one count of possession of child pornography. The evidence presented during the three-day trial painted a disturbing picture of systematic predation, with DiTirro using deception to lure underage girls into sexual acts, which he then recorded and cataloged with chilling precision.

According to court documents, the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department received a tip on September 10, 2015, from a concerned citizen who discovered child pornography on an SD card belonging to DiTirro. A forensic examination revealed 254 images and 42 videos depicting infants and toddlers being violently and sadistically sexually assaulted—material DiTirro not only possessed but preserved in meticulously labeled folders.

Those folders, bearing the names and ages of nearly 50 girls from multiple states, contained nude photos, videos of DiTirro raping minors, and screenshots of explicit video chats. Victims testified they met DiTirro on a social media dating app when they were under 16. He lied about his age—claiming to be a teenager or in his early 20s—and even falsified a birth certificate to manipulate and coerce them into sex acts.

The FBI and Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department led the investigation, uncovering a digital trail that sealed DiTirro’s fate. Assistant U.S. Attorneys Elham Roohani and Christopher Burton prosecuted the case, ensuring the full weight of federal law was brought to bear. After serving his sentence, DiTirro will be required to register as a sex offender under the Sexual Offender Registration and Notification Act (SORNA).

This case was prosecuted under Project Safe Childhood, a Department of Justice initiative launched in 2006 to combat the spread of child sexual exploitation. U.S. Attorney Nicholas A. Trutanich emphasized the message sent by today’s sentence: ‘We will hold child sexual predators accountable and bring them to justice.’ The FBI’s Las Vegas Division, alongside local law enforcement, continues to target predators who use technology to victimize children.
