A brazen daylight robbery at a Kwik Trip in Oshkosh has landed a local man 15 years behind bars. Lorenzo Wood, Jr., 59, was sentenced to 180 months in federal prison for his role in the October 2025 robbery.
According to court documents, Wood walked into the Kwik Trip located off Highway 41 on Jackson Street in Oshkosh just after midnight on October 13, 2025, with a revolver in his hand. He pointed the firearm at the clerk and demanded $170 from the cash register.
The clerk handed over the cash, and Wood left the scene in a silver SUV. Law enforcement tracked the vehicle and identified Wood by his distinctive walking gait, which was captured on surveillance cameras inside the store.
A search of Wood’s residence led to the recovery of the revolver used in the robbery. At the sentencing hearing, U.S. District Judge Byron B. Conway noted the serious nature of the offense and the profound impact it had on the victim.
Wood has a history of similar convenience store robberies, with much of his adult life spent in and out of state prison. Judge Conway imposed the maximum 180-month sentence, citing Wood’s age and poor health, which means he will spend most of the remainder of his life in federal prison.
Following his release, Wood will spend five years on supervised release. The case was investigated by the Winnebago County Sheriff’s Office and prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Daniel R. Humble.
First Assistant U.S. Attorney Brad D. Schimel praised the law enforcement and prosecution team for their hard work in keeping the community safe. Winnebago County Sheriff John Matz also thanked the deputies who solved the case, crediting the use of Flock technology in bringing the incident to a close.
