LOUISVILLE, KY – Heuey Kirksey III, a 35-year-old Louisville native, was handed down a federal sentence of 15 years and 8 months on July 29, 2025, for his role in a methamphetamine distribution conspiracy. The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Western District of Kentucky announced the harsh penalty for Kirksey’s actions.
In March 2023, Kirksey pleaded guilty to conspiring to distribute over 50 grams of meth and distributing over 50 grams of the drug after his previous conviction for a serious drug trafficking offense. He was caught with 907 grams of meth, which were purchased through law enforcement sting operations.
The sentence, imposed in Jefferson Circuit Court, also includes a decade of supervised release following prison. U.S. Attorney Kyle G. Bumgarner commented, ‘Kirksey pushed significant quantities of meth onto the streets of Louisville and will now pay the price by spending more than 15 years behind bars.’
Kirksey’s criminal history is extensive, including a conviction for trafficking in a controlled substance in the first degree greater than two grams of heroin on October 1, 2018. His latest sentence ensures he will not be eligible for parole under the federal system.
The investigation was led by the FBI and the Louisville Metro Police Department, with Assistant United States Attorney Joshua Porter and paralegal Adela Alic handling the prosecution.
This conviction is a part of Operation Take Back America, an initiative aimed at dismantling cartels and transnational criminal organizations and protecting communities from violent crime. The operation leverages resources from various task forces within the Department of Justice.
