Lucio Javier Escobedo Fernandez, Conspiracy to Distribute Methamphetamine, West Virginia 2021

A shocking case of drug trafficking has shaken the community in Monongalia County. Lucio Javier Escobedo Fernandez, a 28-year-old Mexican national, has been sentenced to 63 months of incarceration for his involvement in a conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine.

According to the authorities, Fernandez pleaded guilty in November 2021 to one count of ‘Conspiracy to Distribute Methamphetamine.’ His admission revealed that he worked with others to distribute methamphetamine from March 2018 to August 2020 in Monongalia County and elsewhere.

Prosecutor Zelda E. Wesley, representing the government, played a crucial role in bringing Fernandez to justice. The investigation was led by the Drug Enforcement Administration, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives, and the Mon Metro Drug Task Force, a HIDTA-funded initiative.

Senior U.S. District Judge Irene M. Keeley presided over the case, ensuring that justice was served. Fernandez’s sentence serves as a stern warning to those involved in similar activities.
