Three West Virginia men are headed to prison for decades after getting caught peddling massive amounts of methamphetamine in the Eastern Panhandle. The operation saw Patrick Stickley, 38, and Charles Stevens, 33, selling the deadly stimulant to users in Berkeley County. Gerard Fitch, 36, was also convicted of selling meth in Hampshire County.
Stickley’s crew had others mail packages of meth to his residence in Falling Waters, where they’d be sold or distributed. The U.S. Postal Service and Eastern Panhandle Drug Task Force intercepted one package containing nearly two pounds of meth meant for Stevens. A search of Stickley’s home turned up 10 pounds of marijuana and 15 firearms.
Fitch had a history of drug trafficking and sold 27 grams of meth to a confidential informant. The three men face a combined 48 years in prison. Assistant U.S. Attorney Lara Omps-Botteicher brought the cases.
The investigation involved the Eastern Panhandle Drug Task Force, the Potomac Highlands Drug Task Force, and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives. These cases are part of Operation Take Back America, a nationwide initiative targeting cartels and transnational crime organizations.
