Machine Gun Dealer Sentenced to Prison
SACRAMENTO, Calif. – Kenneth Bryant, 27, of Sacramento, was sentenced to prison for dealing firearms without a license and possessing a machine gun.
According to court documents, Bryant sold investigators 46 firearms, many of which lacked a serial number or other identifying markings, between September 12, 2017, and December 8, 2017. He met with an undercover agent and two confidential sources on 17 occasions and sold them a variety of firearms, including a fully automatic machine gun, several AR-15-type rifles and pistol, and handguns.
This case is the product of an investigation by the U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, with special assistance from the Sacramento Police Department and the Sacramento County District Attorney’s Office’s Gangs, Hate Crimes, and Narcotics unit.
Bryant is scheduled to be sentenced by U.S. District Judge Morrison C. England Jr. on January 3, 2019.
Additionally, three other individuals were also sentenced or pleaded guilty in separate cases involving firearm offenses in the Sacramento area.
Christopher Alexander Kemp, 29, of Sacramento, was sentenced to seven years in prison for possessing a firearm as a felon after pleading guilty to two counts of possessing a firearm as a felon in April 2018.
John Allan Trotter, 36, of Sacramento, pleaded guilty to possession of a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking offense. According to court documents, Trotter was arrested after leading Sacramento County Sheriff’s detectives on a high speed chase and was found with a loaded gun, methamphetamine, and a scale in his car.
Christopher Dyer, 34, of Rancho Cordova, pleaded guilty to being a felon in possession of a gun after sheriff’s deputies pulled alongside a pickup truck in which he was a passenger and found a stolen Glock 23 handgun with seven live rounds in the magazine. Dyer is a previously convicted felon and is prohibited from possessing a firearm.
A federal grand jury also returned a one-count indictment against Dustin Joseph Albini, 35, of West Sacramento, charging him with being a felon in possession of a firearm. Albini was charged in a separate indictment with assaulting a Bureau of Land Management law enforcement officer in July 2015 and is pending trial. The current indictment charges Albini with possessing two firearms, a loaded .45-caliber Colt MK IV handgun and a loaded .40-caliber Glock 27 handgun.
