Kory Washington, Felonious Firearm Possession, Wisconsin 2024

GRIMY TIMES EXCLUSIVE: Kory Washington, a 21-year-old Madison gang member, was sentenced to 33 months in federal prison for illegally possessing a firearm and ammunition.

The sentence comes after Washington’s arrest on November 19, 2024, when he fled law enforcement during a chase in Madison. During the pursuit, officers recovered a loaded 9mm Smith & Wesson M&P Shield handgun, which had been reported stolen in Illinois.

Washington pleaded guilty to the charge on June 5, 2025, and Judge James D. Peterson noted his escalating criminal behavior, citing Washington’s gang ties as a cause for concern. The defendant is the seventh member of his gang to be sentenced to federal prison.

The case was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Corey Stephan, who works with the Madison Police Department and ATF Madison Crime Gun Task Force. This task force includes agents from ATF and officers from various state and local agencies in the Western District of Wisconsin.

Washington’s sentence is part of Operation Take Back America, a nationwide DOJ initiative targeting illegal immigration, cartels, transnational criminal organizations, and violent crime.
