A New Haven man with a lengthy rap sheet is back behind bars after a federal grand jury indicted him on charges of distributing methamphetamine and crack cocaine while on supervised release, the DOJ USAO announced today.
Donald Ogman, 42, also known as ‘Mainey-O’ and ‘Manny O,’ has been a notorious figure in New Haven’s gang scene, with ties to the Grape Street Crips (GSC). In 2012, the FBI arrested Ogman for his role in GSC-related drug trafficking, and he pleaded guilty to narcotics offenses.
Ogman’s luck ran out in 2015 when he was sentenced to 188 months of imprisonment and five years of supervised release. But in a surprising twist, a federal judge granted Ogman’s motion for compassionate release in 2022, reducing his sentence to time served and releasing him from prison.
However, Ogman’s newfound freedom was short-lived. The investigation, led by the Drug Enforcement Administration New Haven Task Force, revealed that Ogman had resumed his drug trafficking activities while on supervised release. Through surveillance, trash pulls, and controlled purchases, authorities uncovered Ogman’s distribution of multi-colored pills containing methamphetamine in and around New Haven.
The indictment charges Ogman with one count of possession with intent to distribute, and distribution of, methamphetamine, carrying a maximum term of imprisonment of 20 years. He also faces three counts of possession with intent to distribute, and distribution of, 50 grams or more of methamphetamine, with a mandatory minimum term of imprisonment of five years and a maximum term of imprisonment of 40 years on each count.
Ogman’s prior conviction for a serious drug felony enhances his penalties, making him eligible for a mandatory minimum term of imprisonment of 10 years and a maximum term of imprisonment of life if convicted.
U.S. Attorney Vanessa Roberts Avery emphasized that an indictment is not evidence of guilt and that charges are only allegations until proven beyond a reasonable doubt. Ogman has been detained since his arrest on May 9, 2024.
The case is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorneys Stephanie T. Levick and Ross Weingarten through the Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Forces (OCDETF) Program. Additional information about the OCDETF Program can be found at https://www.justice.gov/OCDETF.
