Man Gets 46 Months for Marijuana Conspiracy
Morgan Michael Hermiston, 26, of LeClaire, Iowa, has been sentenced to 46 months in federal prison for his role in a marijuana conspiracy.
According to court documents, Hermiston entered into an agreement with co-defendant Jared Fromknecht to receive marijuana in the mail from Colorado and distribute it to others. Hermiston arranged for Fromknecht to mail the marijuana to individuals who would then deliver it to him for distribution.
The investigation, led by the Drug Enforcement Administration, the Iowa Department of Public Safety-Division of Narcotics Enforcement, the United States Postal Inspections Service, and the Davenport, Iowa, Police Department, revealed that Hermiston was responsible for over 100 kilograms of marijuana.
Hermiston pleaded guilty to the charge of conspiracy to distribute marijuana on October 4, 2013. At sentencing, he admitted to his role in the conspiracy.
U.S. Attorney Nicholas A. Klinefeldt announced the sentence, which includes three years of supervised release following Hermiston’s imprisonment and a $100 fine to the Crime Victims Fund.
The case was prosecuted by the United States Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of Iowa.
