Man Held in Bank Heist
Oklahoma City, OK – Joshua Antonio McClendon, 27, has been taken into custody in connection with a brazen bank robbery that left the financial institution in a state of panic.
According to eyewitnesses, McClendon entered the First Fidelity Bank located at 700 SW 29th in the early afternoon hours of April 25, 2013, waving a handgun and demanding cash.
Witnesses said the suspect fled the scene with an undisclosed sum of money, leaving behind a trail of fear and confusion.
Responding officers from the Oklahoma City Police Department quickly tracked down McClendon in the 700 block of SW 28th, where he was apprehended without incident.
McClendon, who is facing up to 25 years in prison if convicted, has been charged with robbing the bank with a firearm.
U.S. Attorney Sanford C. Coats praised the swift action taken by the Oklahoma City Police Department and the Federal Bureau of Investigation in bringing the suspect to justice.
Oklahoma City resident Ashley L. Altshuler is leading the prosecution of McClendon, reminding the public that ‘the indictment is merely an accusation and that the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.’
