A Quincy, Illinois man has copped to the October 2, 2014, robbery of the Martinsburg Bank and Trust in Montgomery County, Missouri, authorities said.
Pierre Lamont Parrish, 29, of Quincy, Illinois, pleaded guilty to one felony count of robbery of a federally insured institution before United States District Judge Ronald L. White on February 27, 2015.
The maximum penalty for this charge is 20 years in prison and/or fines up to $250,000, according to federal prosecutors. The actual sentence will be determined by Judge White who must consider the U.S. Sentencing Guidelines.
The Kirksville Office of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) led the investigation into the high-profile case. Assistant United States Attorney Tom Mehan is handling the case for the U.S. Attorney’s Office.
Parrish is set to face sentencing on May 1, 2015. The outcome of the case hangs in the balance as the Judge weighs the evidence and Parrish’s plea.
The Martinsburg Bank and Trust robbery remains a mystery, and authorities are still working to piece together the events surrounding the crime. However, with Parrish’s guilty plea, the investigation is one step closer to closure.
The guilty plea marks a significant development in the case, and federal authorities are hopeful that it will bring a sense of justice to the victims and the community.
