Man Sentenced for Stolen Social Security Number

A Honduran man has been sentenced to 8 months in prison for using a stolen social security number to obtain employment, according to a recent court ruling.

Noe Francisco Maradiaga-Miranda, a 34-year-old Honduran citizen, was sentenced by U.S. District Judge Sarah S. Vance for falsely representing a social security number in order to get a job.

The court documents state that Maradiaga-Miranda falsely represented that Social Security Number XXX-XX-5102 was assigned to him by the Commissioner of Social Security to obtain employment when in truth and in fact it was not. This occurred from on or about April 30, 2012, until on or about September 15, 2015.

Maradiaga-Miranda will serve 8 months in prison followed by one year of supervised release. Following completion of his sentence, he will be surrendered to the custody of the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement for removal proceedings.

U.S. Attorney Kenneth A. Polite praised the work of the Immigration and Customs Enforcement in investigating this matter. Assistant United States Attorney Emily K. Greenfield was in charge of the prosecution.
