GRIFFIN MICHAEL SKYLER TAYLOR Sentenced to Prison

A California man has been sentenced to a significant amount of time behind bars for possessing a firearm and engaging in identity theft.

GRIFFIN MICHAEL SKYLER TAYLOR, 31, of Grand Terrace, California, was sentenced to 37 months imprisonment and 3 years of supervised release for Felon in Possession of Firearm, in violation of Title 18, United States Code, Sections 922(g)(1) and 924(a)(2).

The sentence is in addition to 24 months imprisonment for Aggravated Identity Theft, in violation of Title 18, United States Code, Sections 1028A(1), to be served consecutively.

The charges arose from an investigation by the Sallisaw Police Department, the Fort Smith (Arkansas) Police Department, and the United States Secret Service.

The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Dean Burris, and the defendant will remain in custody pending transportation to the designated federal facility at which the nonparoleable sentence will be served.

The Honorable Ronald A. White, District Judge in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Oklahoma, in Muskogee, presided over the hearing.

The Information alleged that on or about April 14, 2016, within the Eastern District of Oklahoma, the defendant, having been convicted of a crime punishable by imprisonment for a term exceeding one year, did knowingly possess in and affecting commerce, a firearm which had been shipped and transported in interstate commerce.
