Concord, NH – In a hard-fought battle against drug trafficking in the Granite State, Joseph Coffey, 32, of Manchester, was handed a five-year federal prison sentence for his role in a methamphetamine distribution conspiracy. The ruling came on September 9th, 2025, in federal court.
Coffey, along with his co-defendant Zachary Austin, who received an 84-month sentence, systematically flooded the Manchester area with illegal substances. ‘The defendant and his co-conspirator worked to introduce a significant amount of meth into our community,’ stated U.S. Attorney Erin Creegan.
Methamphetamine has been a relentless scourge for over a decade, and law enforcement in New Hampshire is determined to root out large-scale distributors like Coffey. ‘DEA’s top priority is to pursue those who distribute poisons like meth to profit and destroy lives,’ added Special Agent in Charge Jarod Forget.
The investigation revealed that Coffey and Austin operated from their Manchester apartment, selling meth to law enforcement five times between July and September 2024. Additional seizures uncovered nearly four pounds of the drug.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Alexander S. Chen led the prosecution, with the Drug Enforcement Administration at the forefront of the investigation. This case exemplifies the collaborative efforts of local, state, and federal law enforcement to protect our communities from the deadly grip of illegal drugs.
