Allan Yianakopolos, Child Pornography Possession, NH 2016

CONCORD, N.H. – In a grim turn of justice, Allan Yianakopolos, 49, from Manchester, New Hampshire, has been sentenced to 54 months in federal prison for the heinous crime of possessing child pornography.

The verdict comes after law enforcement executed a search warrant at Yianakopolos’ residence in February 2016, where they discovered his mobile phone harboring hundreds of graphic images and videos depicting the exploitation of children.

On January 26, 2017, Yianakopolos pleaded guilty to the charge. His sentence includes a decade of supervised release following his prison term.

This case is yet another success for Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative launched by the Department of Justice in February 2006. The project aims to combat online exploitation and abuse of children through coordinated efforts across federal, state, and local agencies.

Investigations were conducted by the New Hampshire Crimes Against Children Task Force, Homeland Security Investigations Manchester, and the police departments of Manchester and Bedford. Assistant United States Attorney Georgiana Konesky handled the prosecution.
