Michael Myers, Designer Drug Distribution, Kansas 2023

TOPEKA, KAN – A relentless crackdown on the illicit drug trade has landed Texas man Michael Myers behind bars. The 37-year-old from Montgomery, Texas, was sentenced Monday to time served (two years) for his role in selling designer drugs manufactured in Kansas, according to U.S. Attorney Tom Beall.

Myers pleaded guilty to one count of conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute controlled substances and one count of conspiracy to commit mail fraud. He operated alongside Tracy Picanso and Roy Ehrett, owners of an Olathe-based business that produced dangerous controlled substances and their analogs, including THC and methcathinones.

The trio distributed products like Pump It, Head Trip, Black Arts, Grave Digger, Voodoo Doll, and Lights Out. Their operation was so unscrupulous that some of the counterfeit drugs were mixed in buckets using drill-powered immersion mixers, tested on “testers,” and then refined for sale.

Myers’s co-conspirator, Michelle Reulet, lived with him in Houston and managed Bully Wholesale, a distributor of goods purchased from Picanso and Ehrett. Ehrett would travel to Houston to collect cash from Myers and Reulet, often transferring more than $100,000 in cash on at least two occasions. The investigation yielded a trove of emails and text messages, including an October 2011 exchange where Myers claimed his fake weed would not show up on drug tests.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Tanya Treadway, Michael Varrone from the Food and Drug Administration, and Assistant U.S. Attorney Tony Mattivi were among those commended by Beall for their tireless efforts in bringing Myers to justice. The case was a collaborative effort involving multiple law enforcement agencies, including the DEA, FDA, Department of Homeland Security, FBI, and local police departments.

With Myers now serving his sentence and co-defendants awaiting theirs, the relentless pursuit of justice continues in the battle against designer drug trafficking.
