BOSTON – In a major crackdown on gang violence, federal authorities have charged 14 members and associates of Primeiro Comando da Massachusetts (PCM) with a litany of violent crimes. The group, known for its brazen activities, stands accused of drug and firearms trafficking, numerous robberies, and even the chilling kidnapping of a young woman.
“Violent gangs that proliferate violence are a scourge on our communities,” said United States Attorney Andrew E. Lelling. “Today’s arrests send a clear message: we will use all federal resources to protect Massachusetts residents from these criminals.”
The alleged leader of PCM, Marcio Costa, also known as ‘Marcino’ and ‘Marcinn,’ 28, of Malden, faces charges including RICO conspiracy, robbery, and conspiracy to distribute controlled substances. Joao Pedro Marques Guimares Gama, a/k/a “Bahianinho,” and Breno Henrique DaSilva are among the other suspects charged with illegal firearm dealing and being aliens in possession of firearms.
“ATF will continue to partner with federal, state, and local law enforcement to dismantle criminal street gangs and reduce gun violence,” said Kelly D. Brady, ATF Special Agent in Charge Field of the Boston Field Division.
Peter C. Fitzhugh, Special Agent in Charge, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s (ICE) Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) Boston, emphasized the transnational nature of PCM, stating, “This operation is a testament to our commitment to ensuring community safety and serving justice.”
The defendants include Edson DaSilva, Igor Costa, Vinicius Goncalves de Assis, and others, all facing charges ranging from RICO conspiracy to robbery and kidnapping.
