Erik Gammons, 42, of Marianna, Florida, stood in federal court on Friday, August 8, 2025, as he pleaded guilty to Possession with Intent to Distribute over 500 grams of Methamphetamine and Cocaine. The U.S. Attorney for the Northern District of Florida, John P. Heekin, heralded the plea as a victory against drug addiction that has torn apart communities in North Florida.
“Methamphetamine addiction destroys lives and ravages our communities,” said Attorney Heekin. “This trafficker\’s reign is over, and we are committed to keeping deadly drugs off our streets.” Gammons was caught during a traffic stop on May 5, 2025, in which law enforcement seized approximately 1,798 grams of meth and 568 grams of cocaine, along with other distribution-related items.
“Operation Take Back America” has been instrumental in this case, a nationwide initiative to eliminate cartels and transnational criminal organizations. Gammons faces life imprisonment and lifetime supervision upon release. Assistant United States Attorneys Jessica S. Etherton and Eric W. Welch are prosecuting the case, which was investigated by the Jackson County Sheriff\’s Office and DEA.
Sentencing is set for October 23, 2025, at the Tallahassee U.S. Courthouse before Judge Mark Walker. This is a stark reminder of the Department of Justice\’s dedication to taking back America from drug traffickers.
