A staggering 471 pounds of marijuana was seized by authorities after a traffic stop on I-70 in Ellsworth County, Kansas, leaving a trail of illicit goods in its wake.
On January 1, 2024, a Minnesota man, Mark Anthony Berg, 40, of Coon Rapids, Minn., pleaded guilty to one count of possession with intent to distribute marijuana in a federal court.
The Kansas Highway Patrol stopped Berg’s vehicle after a traffic stop, leading to the discovery of the massive marijuana haul. Authorities were left stunned by the sheer quantity of the illicit substance.
The investigation into the marijuana trafficking operation was a collaborative effort between the Kansas Highway Patrol, the Drug Enforcement Administration, and the U.S. Attorney’s Office.
In addition to the prison sentence, Berg will serve three years on supervised release, bringing a sense of closure to the case.
