San Antonio Man Caught Distributing Child Pornography, Faces 15-Year Sentence

San Antonio, TX – A San Antonio man’s descent into the depths of depravity has come to an end, as 37-year-old Mark Grimes was sentenced to 185 months in federal prison for distribution of child pornography. The harsh sentence was handed down by Senior United States District Judge David A. Ezra, who also ordered Grimes to pay $26,500 restitution to the victims and placed him on supervised release for ten years after completing his prison term.

Grimes’ guilty plea, entered on June 2, 2016, marked the beginning of the end for the defendant. In the plea, Grimes admitted to using his computer to distribute child pornography to others using a peer-to-peer file-sharing program in December 2013. The FBI’s San Antonio Division executed a search warrant for Grimes’ residence on August 5, 2014, where they seized the defendant’s computer. A subsequent forensics evaluation of the computer revealed the presence of approximately 3,800 images of child pornography.

The investigation, led by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, uncovered a trail of digital evidence that would ultimately lead to Grimes’ downfall. Assistant United States Attorney Tracy Thompson prosecuted the case on behalf of the government, working tirelessly to ensure that justice was served.

Grimes’ sentence serves as a stark reminder of the severe consequences of distributing child pornography. The severity of the crime demands nothing less than the harshest sentence possible, and Judge Ezra’s decision reflects that.
