Memphis, TN – In a shocking display of violence, Marquis Davis, 18, allegedly robbed the Exotic Smoke Shop in Cordova, Tennessee, and shot the employee in the abdomen on October 31, 2025.
According to the federal complaint, Davis entered the store in the 1700 block of Germantown Parkway and demanded money from the employee. He pulled out a firearm with an extended magazine and took approximately $400 from the register before shooting the employee.
The employee, who suffered a gunshot wound, was rushed to the hospital where she underwent emergency surgery. Davis, who was also shot by federal agents after he was apprehended, remains in state custody.
The federal charges against Davis carry a mandatory minimum sentence of 10 years and up to life imprisonment. Supplemental federal charges may be added after the completion of the ongoing investigation. Davis has also been charged in state court with Attempted First Degree Murder, Aggravated Robbery, and Employment of a Firearm During the Commission of a Dangerous Felony.
The case is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorneys Jermal Blanchard and Greg Wagner on behalf of the United States. It is set before District Judge Thomas L. Parker of the Western District of Tennessee.
