Crime Spree Ends in Prison for South Charleston Man

A South Charleston man has been sentenced to five years in prison for a federal drug crime, according to a recent announcement from the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of West Virginia.

Possession with Intent to Distribute 50 grams or more of a mixture and substance containing methamphetamine after a vehicle in which he was a passenger was stopped by a West Virginia State Police Trooper in Boone County on April 1, 2021.

134 grams of methamphetamine in Culbreath-Claytor’s possession, which he admitted to intending to sell. The U.S. Attorney’s Office praised the investigative work of the West Virginia State Police in bringing the case to a successful conclusion.

John T. Copenhaver, Jr. imposed the sentence, which includes five years in prison for Culbreath-Claytor. Assistant U.S. Attorney Nowles Heinrich prosecuted the case.

2:21-cr-00190, is a reminder of the ongoing struggle against drug trafficking in West Virginia. The U.S. Attorney’s Office will continue to work with state and local law enforcement agencies to combat this serious threat to the community.
