Marvin Ellis Grubb, Jr., Meth Distribution, West Virginia 2016
A Grant County man has been sentenced to nearly six years in prison for distributing methamphetamine and illegally possessing a firearm.
Marvin Ellis Grubb, Jr., 41, of Maysville, West Virginia, was sentenced to 70 months incarceration for his crimes. The sentence was handed down by U.S. District Judge John Preston Bailey.
Grubb had previously pleaded guilty to one count of ‘Possession with the Intent to Distribute Methamphetamine’ and one count of ‘Unlawful Possession of a Firearm’ in March 2018. He admitted to distributing more than 50 grams of methamphetamine and illegally possessing a .357 caliber pistol.
The crimes took place in August 2016 in Grant County. Grubb’s case was brought as part of Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN), a program aimed at reducing violent crime and making neighborhoods safer.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Traci M. Cook prosecuted the case on behalf of the government. The case was investigated by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, the Potomac Highlands Drug & Violent Crimes Task Force, and the Grant County Sheriff’s Office.
Attorney General Jeff Sessions has made reducing violent crime a top priority. As part of this effort, he reinvigorated PSN in October 2017 and directed all U.S. Attorney’s Offices to develop a district crime reduction strategy.
Grubb’s sentence is a stark reminder of the consequences of engaging in methamphetamine distribution and firearm violations. We will continue to work tirelessly to bring those responsible to justice and keep our communities safe.
