Meth Dealer’s Guilty Plea Could Send Him to Prison for Life

MUSKOGEE, OKLAHOMA – A 31-year-old man from Henryetta has pleaded guilty to distributing massive quantities of methamphetamine.

Mattew Wayne Wasson, 31, of Henryetta, Oklahoma, entered a guilty plea to one count of Distribution of Methamphetamine, a charge that carries a minimum of ten years and up to life in prison, along with a hefty fine of $10,000,000.

The indictment alleged that on October 3, 2024, Wasson knowingly and intentionally distributed 50 grams or more of methamphetamine, a Schedule II controlled substance, as defined by the Controlled Substances Act.

The evidence against Wasson came to light as a result of an investigation by the Drug Enforcement Administration, a federal law enforcement agency tasked with combating the production, distribution, and abuse of controlled substances.

U.S. Magistrate Judge Jason A. Robertson accepted Wasson’s guilty plea and ordered the completion of a presentence investigation report, which will provide a more detailed look at the defendant’s background and any mitigating or aggravating factors that may influence the sentence.

The final sentence will be determined by a U.S. District Court Judge, who will consider the U.S. Sentencing Guidelines and other relevant statutory factors when crafting the sentence.

Wasson is currently being held in the custody of the United States Marshals Service pending sentencing, where he will face the possibility of a lengthy prison term for his role in distributing a highly addictive and destructive substance.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Jacob R. Parker represented the United States in this case, demonstrating the government’s commitment to holding accountable those who contribute to the methamphetamine epidemic plaguing our nation.
