Methamphetamine Ring Busted in Wagoner
A 28-year-old Wagoner man will spend years behind bars for his role in a methamphetamine ring in Oklahoma. Carlos Peralta pleaded guilty to possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine, a Schedule II controlled substance.
According to the indictment, Peralta knowingly and intentionally possessed with intent to distribute 500 grams or more of a mixture or substance containing a detectable amount of methamphetamine on June 22, 2017. The charges arose from an investigation by the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.
The investigation, which spanned years, uncovered a large-scale methamphetamine operation in the region. Peralta’s arrest and guilty plea bring an end to one of the key players in the operation. Assistant United States Attorney Christopher Wilson represented the United States in the case.
The Honorable Ronald A. White, Chief U.S. District Judge in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Oklahoma, accepted the plea and ordered the completion of a presentence investigation report. Peralta faces a minimum of 10 years in prison and a maximum fine of $10,000,000.00.
