Ambridge Felon Indicted on Drug and Firearms Charges

PITTSBURGH, PA — A resident of Ambridge, Pennsylvania has been indicted by a federal grand jury in Pittsburgh on charges of violating federal narcotics and firearms laws.

The indictment, returned on October 25, named Maurice Mosely, Jr., age 41, as the sole defendant.

According to the indictment, Mosely, Jr. possessed a firearm and ammunition as a convicted felon on or about July 21, 2021, and September 10, 2021, violating federal law. He also possessed with intent to distribute 28 grams or more of a mixture and substance containing a detectable amount of cocaine base, 5 grams or more of methamphetamine, and a quantity of a mixture and substance containing a detectable amount of cocaine on or about July 21, 2021. On or about August 13, 2021, Mosely, Jr. possessed with intent to distribute a quantity of a mixture and substance containing a detectable amount of cocaine base.

The law provides for a maximum total sentence of 20 years in prison, a fine of $5,000,000, or both. Under the Federal Sentencing Guidelines, the actual sentence imposed would be based upon the seriousness of the offense and the prior criminal history, if any, of the defendant.

Mosely, Jr. is currently in the custody of the U.S. Marshals. Assistant United States Attorney Brendan J. McKenna is prosecuting this case on behalf of the government. The Drug Enforcement Administration conducted the investigation leading to the indictment in this case.
