WASHINGTON — Fouodzing Mbord, the unrepentant caregiver who brutalized a vulnerable adult patient under his watch, was handed down a sentence today in Superior Court. The 49-year-old Maryland native was caught on hidden cameras striking and threatening the bedridden victim.
Mbord’s guilty plea to one count of abuse of a vulnerable adult — injure or threat to injure — came after security footage exposed his cruelty. He faced up to 180 days in jail, but Superior Court Judge Errol Arthur suspended the sentence, opting instead for a year of probation.
The victim, requiring 24-hour care following a stroke, was left defenseless against Mbord’s attacks. It wasn’t until the victim’s sister installed security cameras that the truth came to light. On November 12 and 16, 2023, the footage captured Mbord striking the patient repeatedly.
Arrested on November 20, 2023, Mbord now faces a year of probation despite his brutal actions. U.S. Attorney Jeanine Ferris Pirro and Inspector General Daniel W. Lucas of the D.C. Office of the Inspector General commended the efforts of the Metropolitan Police Department, DC OIG’s Medicaid Fraud Control Unit, and the U.S. Attorney’s Office for their work on the case.
Special Assistant U.S. Attorney Emmanuela Charles was recognized for her role in bringing Mbord to justice while on detail from the DC-OIG.
