McALLEN, Texas – The gritty streets of McAllen witnessed a severe blow to its drug underworld as Narciso Dominguez III, a 26-year-old local resident, was sentenced to ten years in federal prison for possession with intent to distribute cocaine. U.S. Attorney Nicholas J. Ganjei announced the verdict following Dominguez’s guilty plea on March 27.
The sentence, handed down by U.S. District Judge Drew B. Tipton, also mandates a subsequent five-year supervised release period. The court highlighted the vast amount of cocaine Dominguez was involved with, as well as evidence that tied him to a larger drug trafficking network.
Dominguez’s criminal activities reached their peak on May 23, 2024, when he cleverly packaged 19 kilograms of cocaine using common shipping materials like boxes and bubble wrap. His purchase of these items and the surveillance of stash houses in McAllen raised red flags among authorities. Dominguez later confessed to knowing that the packages contained dangerous narcotics.
Less than a week post-purchase, authorities apprehended him and discovered 43.35 kilograms of cocaine. A subsequent search at a McAllen residence yielded an additional 229 kilograms, with Dominguez admitting to mailing about 100 kilograms of cocaine daily across the United States.
With his sentence coming into effect, Dominguez will remain in custody pending transfer to a Federal Bureau of Prisons facility. The Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) conducted the investigation that led to this monumental conviction, while Assistant U.S. Attorney Jose A. Garcia prosecuted the case with relentless dedication.
