David Belton, Illegal Gun Possession, Pennsylvania 2024

PITTSBURGH, PA – A federal grand jury in Pittsburgh has indicted David Belton, a 37-year-old resident of McKeesport, on charges of illegal gun possession, according to United States Attorney Scott W. Brady.

The indictment accuses Belton, who has previously been convicted of a crime with a prison term exceeding one year, of possessing a Fabrique Nationale Herstal semi-automatic handgun on May 30, 2019. This act is in clear violation of federal firearms laws.

Belton now faces up to ten years in prison, a fine of $250,000 or both, as dictated by the law. The severity of his sentence will depend on the nature of the offense and his criminal history.

The case against Belton is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Jeffrey R. Bengel.

Investigations into this matter were conducted by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, Allegheny County Sheriff’s Office, and the McKeesport Police Department.

This case is a part of Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN), which aims to reduce violent crime through evidence-based programs. PSN brings together various stakeholders to address pressing criminal issues in the community. Belton is accused under this initiative.
