A former Anniston, Alabama, Medicaid provider is headed to the slammer for 54 months after scamming the system out of nearly $720,000. Hasan Jermel Pulliam, 54, was sentenced on April 2, 2026, for health care fraud and identity theft offenses.
The scheme went down in 2022, with Pulliam allegedly submitting false claims to the Alabama Medicaid Agency, getting paid for services he never provided. He’s also accused of using stolen identities to get his hands on Medicare numbers.
Pulliam’s scam was a brazen one, with the government alleging he submitted over 6,000 false claims to the Medicaid agency. The payouts added up to a cool $718,967.20, which Pulliam will now have to cough up in restitution.
U.S. Attorney Kevin Davidson said the sentence sends a message that health care fraud won’t be tolerated. ‘Health care fraud diverts limited resources away from patients and families who depend on programs like Medicaid,’ he said.
