MEMPHIS, TN – The grim streets of Memphis have seen yet another high-profile conviction. Darius Harshaw, a 36-year-old man from the city, has been sentenced to 15 years in federal prison for possession with intent to distribute 400 grams of fentanyl and for possessing a firearm in furtherance of drug trafficking.
According to court documents, the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation and Shelby County Sheriff’s Office began their joint investigation into Harshaw in August 2021. On September 15, 2021, they executed a search warrant at his residence, where they found 873 grams of fentanyl, a firearm, and a money counter.
Harshaw’s prior felony history disqualified him from possessing a firearm under federal law. He pleaded guilty to the charges against him on November 7, 2022.
Judge Jon P. McCalla handed down the sentence on February 9, 2023, sentencing Harshaw to 180 months in federal prison followed by five years of supervised release. Federal sentences do not include parole options.
This case was a collaborative effort between law enforcement agencies, including the ATF and the Department of Homeland Security Investigation. Assistant United States Attorney Gregory Allen prosecuted the case on behalf of the United States, with gratitude expressed to him and his colleagues for their dedication.
