Meredith Willey, Fentanyl Trafficking, New Hampshire 2024

CONCORD, NH – In a grim blow to the opioid crisis, Meredith Willey, 38, of Groveton, New Hampshire, was sentenced on Tuesday to serve 65 months in prison for her role in a fentanyl trafficking conspiracy. United States Attorney Scott W. Murray announced the sentence, which comes as a result of an intense DEA investigation.

Willey’s arrest stemmed from a drug trafficking operation that spanned across state lines. On March 1, 2018, agents with the Drug Enforcement Administration observed a transaction involving 250 grams of a controlled substance, later identified as fentanyl, taking place in Massachusetts. Willey and her co-conspirator were spotted at the scene, leading to a traffic stop by New Hampshire State Troopers on Interstate Route 93.

During the stop, troopers discovered approximately 240 grams of fentanyl hidden in the car, along with $11,000 in drug proceeds and five firearms. A search of Willey’s residence revealed more evidence of her involvement in the illegal drug trade. Willey later pleaded guilty to participating in the fentanyl trafficking conspiracy.

“Interstate fentanyl traffickers will be arrested, prosecuted, and sentenced to prison terms,” U.S. Attorney Murray stated. “We are united in our determination to stop the flow of fentanyl into New Hampshire and protect our citizens from this deadly drug.” DEA Special Agent in Charge Brian D. Boyle echoed these sentiments, emphasizing that the agency’s top priority is to pursue anyone distributing fentanyl.

The investigation was a collaborative effort involving numerous law enforcement agencies, including the DEA, New Hampshire State Police, Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office, Nashua Police Department, and more. Assistant United States Attorneys Georgiana L. Konesky, Seth R. Aframe, and Debra M. Walsh prosecuted the case, which was supported by the Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Force (OCDETF).

Willey’s sentence serves as a stark reminder of the severity of fentanyl trafficking and the ongoing fight against the opioid epidemic in New Hampshire.
